Juniors Touring Tryout - Kraken

WODS is (re)starting their Juniors Touring Program for the 2025 season. This is the debut season of Kraken.

We will be hosting tryouts on Wednesday, May 7th and Wednesday, May 14th from 6:30pm to 8pm at Kiwanis Park.

Who is Eligible: All players who will be 18 years old on December 31, 2025 and younger. 

Season schedule: Practices will be held on Wednesdays, from May 21, 2025 to August 6th from 6pm-8pm. Kraken will be participating in tournaments across Ontario that take place on various weekends. Finalized schedule to follow.

Season fee: $250/player. Fees cover field rentals fees, tournament fees, insurance, and Ontario Ultimate membership. Season fee does not cover transportation or equipment, including footwear or jerseys

Season Goals

  1. Skill Development
    • Improve Throwing Techniques: Focus on mastering forehand, backhand, and hammer throws.
    • Enhance Catching Skills: Practice different catching techniques, including one-handed and layout catches.
    • Strengthen Defensive Strategies: Work on matching and zone defense tactics.
  2. Team Cohesion
    • Build Team Chemistry: Organize team-building activities and encourage positive communication.
    • Develop Trust: Foster an environment where players feel comfortable relying on each other during games.
  3. Physical Fitness
    • Increase Endurance: Implement conditioning drills to improve stamina and overall fitness.
    • Boost Agility: Incorporate agility training to enhance quick directional changes and speed.
  4. Game Strategy
    • Refine Offensive Plays: Develop and practice set plays to effectively move the disc downfield.
    • Improve Game Awareness: Teach players to read the game better and make smart decisions under pressure.
  5. Competitive Success
    • Win Local Tournaments: Aim to perform well and win in local competitions.
    • Qualify for Regional Championships: Set a goal to qualify and compete at the regional level.
  6. Personal Growth
    • Encourage Leadership: Provide opportunities for players to take on leadership roles within the team.
    • Promote Sportsmanship: Emphasize the importance of fair play and respect for opponents.

Registration help (for Parents):

To register a dependent in this program who is not in our system you must:

  1. Make sure that you have selected Parent/Guardian in your account profile. To check this go to your profile page and click the pencil icon to edit your profile. Then select “Parent/Guardian” from the list if it isn’t already selected, scroll to the bottom and click “submit”.
  2. Add a child to your profile.
  3. Select the child you would like to register to “Act As” them either from your home screen in Zuluru or in the link in the above paragraph which sits immediately under the league title.
  4. Fill out the registration on behalf of your child.
